THE DETAILS
WHAT IS A CREATIVE RETAINER?
A creative retainer is a partnership between your business and ours, offering the flexibility to engage as little as 5 hours of service monthly. With a creative retainer, you gain immediate access to a diverse array of professional graphic design services, all without the overheads of hiring a full-time employee.
HOW DOES BILLING WORK?
Payment for your creative retainer is required on the first day of each month, and work will commence once full payment is received. Monthly retainers are offered on 3-month and 6-month contracts based on the package selected. Time is subtracted from the retainer as tasks are completed. All work is meticulously tracked and itemized to display usage, and you will receive a monthly report detailing the time spent.
WHAT IF I DON’T USE MY HOURS?
At the end of the month, if you haven’t used up all of your retainer hours, we will roll over your leftover hours to next month. After one month, the “rollover” hours expire.
WHAT SERVICES ARE INCLUDED IN A CREATIVE RETAINER?
- Graphic Design: brochures, business cards, postcards, booklets, rack cards, menus, flyers, roll-up banners, signage, posters, etc.
- Digital design: ex. social media graphics, blog banners, website updates, eBook covers and layout, email template design, etc.
RETAINER PACKAGES DO NOT INCLUDE:
New Logo Design: If you need a new business, product, or project logo designed from scratch, this will be quoted and billed as a flat fee.
New Website Design: If you need a new website designed from scratch, this will be quoted and billed as a flat fee.
Expenses: Services do not include additional costs like stock photography purchases, subcontractor fees, web hosting purchases and printing. We will consult with you before beginning project work to identify any fees or costs that may be billed in addition to your creative retainer agreement.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE A PROJECT TO BE WORKED ON EACH MONTH?
You can request new projects or work via email. Please allow 1-2 business days to complete small [less than 5 hours] projects.
For larger projects or if you want to plan ahead [recommended], please allow at least 7 days notice. Retainer clients do have priority but planning in advance will allow us to clear our schedules adequately for you.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED MORE TIME?
If you need more hours one month than you have in the retainer, we will bill you for the additional hours at the same discounted rate as the retainer. For example: if you have a 5-hour retainer but need 7 hours one month, we will bill you the extra 2 hours at the discounted rate.
HOW LONG WILL MY PROJECT TAKE?
Without specific details, it’s challenging to estimate the time required to complete a design. However, the figures below provide a rough estimate for some of the most frequently requested designs. The actual time may vary depending on the complexity of the design, such as sourcing stock photography, selecting custom fonts, or removing backgrounds from photos. *Once the project details are provided, I can offer a more accurate timeframe.
- Postcards & flyers: 4-6 hours
- Social media/blog graphics & timeline covers: 1-2 hours
- Mailchimp newsletter creation: 4-6 hours
- 3-5 page brochure: 4-10 hours
- Roll-up Banner: 5-7 hours
- Double-sided business cards: 2-3 hours
- Magazine ad: 4-6 hours
- Menu: 4-6 hours but this can vary greatly based on # of items, pages and size
WHAT IF MY ITEM IS NOT LISTED ABOVE? HOW WILL I KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE?
Before starting any project, I will provide an estimate. If the project takes more or less time than anticipated, I will communicate that every step of the way.
You will also have access to a report of your time remaining each month.
WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?
Deposits made for retainer packages are non-refundable. This policy allows us to dedicate the necessary resources and attention to your projects from the outset, ensuring the high-quality service and commitment your business deserves.
